Philippine privacy notice

Your information. Your choices.

This notice explains how BotikaWatch handles personal data for its consumer app, BotikaWatch Partners app, website signup, and support services. It follows the transparency, legitimate-purpose, and proportionality principles of the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.

1. Who is responsible

BotikaWatch is the personal information controller for the website signup and the BotikaWatch services it operates. BotikaWatch decides why and how those records are processed. Contact us at hello@botikawatch.ph for privacy questions or requests.

Partner pharmacies remain responsible for information they independently collect or control outside BotikaWatch.

2. Information we may collect

  • Account and profile: name, email or mobile number, account identifiers, authentication records, preferences, and family profile labels you create.
  • Location: approximate or precise device location when you grant permission, or a place you enter, to show supported nearby pharmacies and distance-related results.
  • Medicine planning: saved or watchlist medicines, family medicine profiles, refill schedules, reminders, search history, basket comparisons, and notification settings.
  • Prescription import: an image, extracted text, or corrections you choose to provide through a supported prescription-import workflow. Medicine information may reveal sensitive health information.
  • Community contributions: price, availability, branch, photo, receipt, or correction reports you voluntarily submit, together with validation and moderation details.
  • Partner information: pharmacy or branch identity, staff or account details, products, listed prices, promotions, opening information, and queued update records.
  • Device, security, and diagnostics: app version, device type, language, accessibility settings, network state, error logs, timestamps, and security events.
  • Website and support: name, email, selected audience, optional phone, place or pharmacy name, signup notes, support messages, and consent record.

3. How and when we collect it

We collect information when you create or use an account, grant a device permission, search or save a medicine, manage a family profile, set a reminder, import a prescription, submit a community report, update a partner listing, contact support, or sign up on the website. Some technical and security information is generated automatically when the service is used.

4. Why we use information

  • Provide the feature you request, including search, supported pharmacy results, maps, watchlists, family planning, reminders, saved items, reports, and partner listing management.
  • Maintain account security, prevent abuse or false reports, diagnose errors, and keep the service reliable.
  • Moderate and improve medicine-price, availability, and pharmacy information.
  • Send requested launch, family, or partner updates when you consent.
  • Answer support and privacy requests and comply with applicable law.
  • Create aggregated or de-identified statistics that do not reasonably identify an individual.

Depending on the activity, processing may rely on your consent, steps needed to provide a requested service, legitimate interests that do not override your rights, or a legal obligation.

5. Location and optional permissions

Location access is optional. You may deny or later disable it in your device settings. Nearby-pharmacy, map, distance, or location-based alert features may be limited when location is unavailable. BotikaWatch should not collect location for unrelated advertising.

6. Crowdsourced and pharmacy data

Community reports and partner listings help improve coverage but can change or contain errors. We may review, validate, correct, reject, de-identify, or remove submissions. A displayed medicine price or branch record should not be treated as a guarantee of current price, stock, or complete pharmacy coverage.

7. Sharing and service providers

We may give limited access to hosting, database, authentication, mapping, diagnostics, notification, security, and customer-support providers that process data for BotikaWatch under appropriate instructions and safeguards. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or during a properly governed business transition.

BotikaWatch does not sell personal data. We do not share an identifiable medicine watchlist, family profile, prescription image, or support request with pharma, HMO, advertising, or analytics partners for their independent marketing. Aggregated or de-identified trends may be used when individuals are not reasonably identifiable.

8. Storage and retention

Data may be stored using managed hosting and cloud providers in the Philippines or other locations where service providers operate, subject to contractual and technical safeguards. Website signup records are kept while the requested updates remain active and are reviewed for deletion after 24 months of inactivity. Account and feature records are kept while needed to provide the service or until a valid deletion request, subject to limited security, backup, fraud-prevention, dispute, and legal-retention requirements. De-identified community information may be retained to preserve data quality.

9. Security practices

BotikaWatch uses measures appropriate to the data and risk, including encrypted network connections where supported, authentication and access controls, managed database protections, server-side validation, consent records, least-privilege access, monitoring, backups, and procedures for security incidents. No internet service can promise absolute security. Please report a suspected issue without sending passwords, payment details, diagnoses, or full prescriptions.

10. Your data-subject rights

Subject to applicable law and identity verification, you may exercise the following rights recognized by the National Privacy Commission:

  • Be informed
  • Access applicable records
  • Object or withdraw consent
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request erasure or blocking
  • Request data portability where applicable
  • File a complaint with the NPC
  • Seek damages where legally available

Use the Privacy Choices and Account Deletion page or email hello@botikawatch.ph. We may ask for information needed to verify identity and protect the account. You may also learn about complaint procedures from the National Privacy Commission.

11. Children and family profiles

A parent or legal guardian should manage privacy choices for a minor or dependent who cannot validly exercise them. Do not add unnecessary health or identity information to family profile labels, notes, or support messages.

12. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice when the apps, providers, legal requirements, or processing activities change. The effective date will be revised and material changes will be communicated through an appropriate website or app notice.
